
After his infiltration of Sol, Dorn plugged the gaps in the defences and they were better prepared. After Alpharius Infiltrated the Palace the first time, Valdor instituted the Blood Games and other Security Measures. Infiltrating through Imperial defences to show the Commander of said defences their weak spots. Alpharius was doing exactly what he'd done before. It also throws Praetorian of Dorn into more light. The interactions with other Legions, the story of how "Alpharius" was found by Horus. What Alpharius said makes perfect sense, it makes several other things click.

You can only write so many mystery books before it gets really dull. I like to think it's the only book we can take as true.
